Sets with the Most Coffee and Tea Card Art
Published on March 1, 2026
If you've spent any time flipping through modern Pokémon cards, you've probably noticed something: the illustrators love drawing cozy scenes. Cafés, tea shops, kitchen tables with steaming cups. It's one of those details that doesn't get talked about enough, and it's the entire reason PokéBrewdex exists — to catalog every card where a beverage sneaks into the artwork.
After going through our entire collection of 90 cards, I wanted to break down which sets are the richest hunting grounds for beverage-themed card art. If you're building a themed collection like this, knowing where to focus your pack-cracking (or singles-buying) makes a huge difference.
Twilight Masquerade — 9 Cards
This set is the undisputed champion, and it's not even close. Twilight Masquerade introduced Poltchageist and Sinistcha — the matcha tea Pokémon — giving it a massive head start. But even beyond those, the set's fairy-tale aesthetic led to plenty of cozy scenes with teacups and café settings.
The tea Pokémon line dominates here. You've got three different Poltchageist printings, including a gorgeous Illustration Rare. Then there's Sinistcha with five variant printings (Normal Holo, Reverse Holo, Cosmos Holo, Trick or Trade 2024, and a TM Stamp), plus three Sinistcha ex cards ranging from the standard Double Rare up to the stunning Special Illustration Rare that I traded for at a local card shop.

There's also the Applin common card — easy to miss, but look closely and you'll see two teacups sitting on the table behind it. And the Eevee Illustration Rare rounds out the set's café vibes.
If you're buying one set for this collection, this is it.
Brilliant Stars (+ Trainer Gallery) — 6 Cards
Brilliant Stars is the set that made me realize this collection was possible. It contains the most explicitly coffee-themed card in the entire TCG: Cafe Master. The Trainer card literally features a barista, and it got an incredible Trainer Gallery Rare Ultra treatment with expanded artwork.

The Trainer Gallery subset is where Brilliant Stars really shines. Oranguru TG is a personal favorite — it shows Oranguru sitting at a table with a V60 pour over setup and a gooseneck kettle. If you know coffee, you know that's a very specific choice by the artist. They've clearly brewed some naturally processed beans in their day.
Also here: Alcremie (cream-themed Pokémon), Alcremie TG, and Fresh Water Set — a Trainer card featuring, well, fresh water. Not coffee, but we count all beverages here.
Scarlet & Violet Base — 6 Cards
The base Scarlet & Violet set is heavy on the Special Illustration Rares, and a surprising number of them feature café scenes or beverage art. Arven shows the character in a kitchen/dining setting, Jacq has a cozy research room vibe, and Gardevoir ex has subtle café elements in the background.
The Kirlia Illustration Rare is one of the prettier cards in this category — pastel colors with a tea-party aesthetic. Klefki has four different variant printings including Play! Pokémon Prize Pack versions, and Miraidon ex rounds things out.
Temporal Forces — 5 Cards
Temporal Forces went all-in on illustration rares with cozy, domestic scenes. Charjabug is one of my favorites in the entire collection — it's a small bug Pokémon in a beautifully illustrated everyday setting. Minccino and Excadrill follow the same pattern.
On the Trainer side, Morty's Conviction and Salvatore are both Special Illustration Rares where the character artwork includes tea or coffee references. Salvatore's card in particular leans into a warm, inviting atmosphere.
Paldea Evolved — 4 Cards
Paldea Evolved's contribution is mostly in the SIR (Special Illustration Rare) category. Grusha and Iono are the headliners — both expensive, both stunning. The Eiscue and Fletchinder Illustration Rares add to the set's comfortable, slice-of-life aesthetic.
Paradox Rift — 4 Cards
Four cards, all with a cozy feel. Larry is a standout — this Trainer card shows Larry in his natural habitat. Mantyke, Minun, and Plusle are all Illustration Rares with warm, domestic artwork that includes beverage elements.
Crown Zenith (+ Galarian Gallery) — 4 Cards
Crown Zenith was the send-off for the Sword & Shield era, and it packed in some great beverage-adjacent art. Nessa is the standout Rare Holo. The commons Purrloin and Shinx both feature cozy indoor scenes, and Colress's Experiment from the Galarian Gallery shows the scientist with what appears to be laboratory beverages.
Paldean Fates — 4 Cards
Another solid showing. Arven SIR and Iono SIR continue the trend of Trainer SIRs with café scenes. Heat Rotom — which is literally a microwave — and Gimmighoul round things out with kitchen-adjacent vibes.
The Rest: Sets with 1-3 Cards Each
Several sets contribute a card or two each. Some highlights:
Stellar Crown (3): Alcremie, Dachsbun ex, and Lacey
Destined Rivals (3): Two Rotom cards (one with a coffee cup on the table) and Team Rocket's Meowth with a coffee cup visible in the art
Sword & Shield base and Darkness Ablaze: The original Sinistea and Polteageist printings — the OG tea Pokémon
Detective Pikachu: Ludicolo from the movie set and both Detective Pikachu promo cards with coffee cups on the table
Astral Radiance TG: Gardevoir sitting by a computer with a coffee cup
Lost Origin TG: Snorlax with what looks like a hot beverage on the table
What This Means for Collectors
If you're trying to build a beverage-themed collection, your best bet is to focus on Scarlet & Violet era sets. Of our 90 tracked cards, the vast majority come from SV-era releases. The illustration rare slots in modern sets tend to feature more everyday scenes — cafés, kitchens, living rooms — which means more opportunities for beverage appearances.
Older sets have some gems (the Traveling Salesman from Aquapolis is from 2003), but they're scattered. Modern sets give you the density you need to build a collection without hunting for one-offs across 25 years of cards.
